Eddie Stockton
Eddie Stockton has worked professionally for over 25 years, receiving his formal training as a student at the Alvin Ailey and Martha Graham Schools and NYC's High School of Performing Arts. During his third year, he joined his first dance company, NJ Center Dance Collective. He later continued his studies in the Acting and Musical Theatre Departments at Alabama State and Howard Universities.
His career has been enriched by working with several companies and choreographers, including George Faison, Kevin Iega Jeff, Philadanco, Dwight Rhoden, DC Shakespeare Theatre, Nathan Trice, Nai-Ni Chen, Bill T. Jones, and more. Eddie has been teaching dance since he was a teenager, serving as an instructor at The Ailey School for 15 years (Jazz & House) and as a founding member of Brooklyn's Purelements for nine years (Modern/Jazz/Ballet).
He has worked in Greece, Poland, and France, and makes regular visits to Germany, Italy, and recently Slovenia. He is proud to have been twice invited to sit on the panel at Guadeloupe's Regional Dance Competition and once for 'Expression' National Dance Competition in Florence, Italy.
As a choreographer, Eddie's ability to instruct dancers at almost any level has allowed him to choreograph for a variety of settings, including school programs, dance groups, college and off-Broadway musicals, and professional dance companies. His most recent contribution was as a guest choreographer for the 2014 5th Annual Stars Of New York Dance. In 2009, along with his partner Sarah Collins, Eddie started MIXTape, a choreographer's showcase. Over the next two years, they produced three successful MIXTape events before taking a hiatus to pursue other endeavors, including the debut of his contemporary dance company, "dance es," and the development of an international artist exchange.
