Past Programs
Studio In The Park
Studio In The Park is programming developed in 2020 due to COVID-19. This program is a seven-month program, which provided free outdoor dance technique classes and performance opportunities to our diverse community members including adults, youth and seniors in three Brooklyn parks. Deeply rooted in the community, JGCO has cultivated audiences across Brooklyn at Herbert Von King Park Bed-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, East New York, Ft. Greene, Clinton Hill, Williamsburg, Park Slope, as well as other parts of the city like Hell's Kitchen, Greenwich Village, Upper West Side, Laurelton, Jamaica, Long Island City, and Staten Island. As an ambassador for the arts, JGCO has helped shape the viewpoint that dance is an accessible art form of creative expression for all. The organization uses its performances and donor relationships to illustrate artistic value among community leaders and legislators. In JGCO’s view, the arts are fundamental to building bridges between cultures, encouraging people from different ethnic, religious, race, gender and age to explore their shared humanity. The organization will continue to advocate for increased investments and support for arts and culture programming in schools and low-income communities throughout Brooklyn and New York City.
