Chanel Dasilva

Chanel DaSilva, a native of Brooklyn, is a multifaceted artist and ARTivist. She is an entrepreneur, choreographer, and director, and serves as Co-Director of MOVE|NYC|, an arts and social justice organization focused on equity and diversity in the dance industry. Chanel earned her BFA from The Juilliard School, after being named a Presidential Scholar in the Arts.


She began her professional career with the Trey McIntyre Project, performing in works such as Ma Maison and The Sun Road, and was featured on the cover of Dance Magazine in 2011. Chanel later performed with the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and toured internationally across multiple continents.


Since beginning her choreographic journey in 2016, Chanel has created works for institutions including LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts, Harvard Dance Project, and Gibney Company’s EMERGE season. She has received commissions from The Joffrey Ballet, American Repertory Theater, and Ballet Memphis, among others. A notable répétiteur of Trey McIntyre’s works, she has also choreographed for artists such as Esperanza Spalding and Nathalie Joachim.


As an educator and mentor, Chanel has led workshops at The Juilliard School, SUNY Purchase, and New York University. She has been honored with the Princess Grace Award, as well as recognition from the Joffrey Ballet Winning Works Choreographic Competition and the Martha Hill Dance Fund.
