Shirley Black-Brown-Coward is a Juilliard-trained performing artist with expertise in classical, modern, Broadway, and liturgical dance. At JGCO she is an accomplished educator and Head Rehearsal Director, where she mentors dancers, refines technique, and develops innovative curricula in collaboration with other faculty. Known for her expertise in technical alignment and injury prevention, she ensures dancers build healthy, sustainable practices to support long-term performance careers. With extensive teaching experience regionally and internationally, most recently at the International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD), Shirley brings a global perspective to her work, fostering growth and resilience in every dancer she trains.
